JFK’s Ship Captains Writing Box with Hidden Compartment

Price Not Announced

Here is an extraordinarily rare item owned by President John Kennedy. It is a Ship Captain’s Writing Box that is approximately 150 to 175 years old. It was a gift to President Kennedy from his wife, Jacqueline. The box measures approximately 13 & 1/4″ wide X 11″ deep X 4 & 1/2″ tall. There is a hidden compartment in the side. The box is made of premium hard wood, and the top is burl wood. There is a 3″ Sterling Silver Presidential Seal set in the top. Jacqueline had the seal placed before she gave the box to the president. The inside of the top features tooled black leather. The box is in overall excellent condition for a box of this age. JFK loved the sea and sailing. He had and used this box in the White House. It was given to Peter Lawford after JFK’s assassination, and came from the Lawford Estate.
